July 22 Words
Fragmented chunks of brain matter
All stuck inside an unsupported balloon of skin
Draped over jagged shards
Gently blanketed over the punctured gray mass
Which is now buried beneath
Under the catastrophic collapse
Still the two legs churn
Wobbled steps toward any path
Balance through luck
Standing by will
Power from nothingness
Eyelids still open
Direction just ahead
Fluid leaks from what used to be nostrils
Tears stream down
After and before the blood stains the collar
Systolic pressure stains organs red from the inside
Lungs inflating, deflating, encrusted and demonic
Direction just ahead
Eyelids collapsing obstructing light
Then the knees hit the ground
Doubled over into a face-first collapse
Into a rest
