2/10/10 (?): An Attempt
I held my tongue that time.
After that look in those eyes,
Before that deep breath I took.
This was the paradigm.
How long until the effects of my smile wear off?
Another deep breath.
Because it makes it a little better.
And I’m holding my tongue
And my fingers are slimy with saliva
Getting wetter, on account of my gasping lungs,
My heart, my brain, my eyes, my lips.
I held my tongue all the way through,
Smiled my last smile,
And when no one was looking, I closed my mouth,
Wiped my hand on my shirt
Walked out the door and ran.
